What is a virtual doctor visit? How much does a virtual doctor visit cost?
A virtual doctor visit is practically the same as a regular doctor visit, but at home and digitally! You can connect and communicate with a doctor via your computer or smartphone, and then receive remote diagnosis and treatment. This is what a virtual doctor visit is all about. It’s also called Telecare/Video Visit.
Thanks to this kind of healthcare, patients are able to stay home but still receive care for minor injuries, mild illnesses, and common symptoms like flu symptoms. Visual physical exams can be provided too. With a clinic like AFC Urgent Care, people of any age, including children and seniors, can be treated remotely.
Another great thing about virtual doctor visits is how much less expensive they are compared to regular visits. At our clinic, our pricing varies, so please contact us to learn more about the costs of our services. We accept most major insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid, and we offer discounted cash pay options for patients without insurance. You can visit our Insurances page to see a list of many of the providers we work with, or you can call us to check whether we work with your particular provider.
Is there a difference between telehealth and Telecare/Video Visit? What can be treated through Telecare/Video Visit?
There is a bit of a difference between telehealth and Telecare. Generally, telehealth refers to a broader range of remote healthcare services than Telecare/Video Visit does. Typically, Telecare/Video Visit refers to remote clinical services only. However, both terms can be used to describe remote healthcare.
With telehealth/Telecare, a patient can receive care for minor health symptoms and minor conditions. For example, if a patient has flu symptoms, a doctor may be able to determine whether the symptoms are serious and those of a condition like the flu. From there, the doctor is able to either recommend in-person or curbside testing, if necessary, or offer another service like a prescription for a medication. Mild illness treatments, minor injury care, basic visual checkups, and family health advice can be provided via telehealth/Telecare. In fact, many common urgent care and primary care services can be provided.
If you believe you or a loved one requires remote healthcare, then contact us today at AFC Urgent Care.
